What is a D-Block Legend?
It is D-Block's version of the Hall of Fame. The powers-to-be elect a living legend, or more, after every Fall season that passes. In order to qualify to become a D-Block Legend, you must have played at least 3 seasons with D-Block. There are 3 ways to ensure yourself entry into the Living Legends archive:
Statistical superiority, achievements (ie: awards, records, etc.), and wildcard status. Wild Card status includes anything other than stats or achievements that the powers-to-be feel is worthy of D-Block Legend Status. As soon as someone is elected into the archive, their number will automatically be retired forever and they will be the only person capable of wearing that number on a D-Block jersey ever again. When entered into the D-Block Legends, the stats on their plaques will be updated every passing Fall season. At this point, there is no predecessor for statistical entry. In order to enter the archive, you must be elected by 3 of the 5 votes collected by D-Block's chosen committee. (as of 10-19-04)
"Elected to the Wild Card Living Legends for his loyalty to D-Block. Erb became the first player to reach 50 games played. His leadership on the field & off the field makes him one of the most respected people to ever play for D-Block. His clutch hits in the playoffs & regular season are often expected from him. He is the first ever member of the D-Block Living Legends. His "peace-maker" ways make him a lovable character in the D-Block family tree. He has played in every D-Block season. Erb is truly one of a kind."
"The first ever player to be elected into the D-Block Living Legends for Statistical Superiority. In his election year, Rob "Furious" Rosenberg was a career .600 hitter, 2nd in the D-Block record books for both HRs & Triples. Rob is known for his knowledge of the game. He has helped guide D-Block teams into playoff victory. Most recognize him as a captain for any squad he plays on. He is truly one of the best players to ever wear a D-Block uniform. He is also credited as one of the founding fathers of the D-Block Dynasty."
"D-Block remembers a
beloved member of our family who passed away on June 10th, 2006. Jay
Liantonio will always be remembered as someone who was always fun to be
around. He finished his D-Block career with a .447 Batting Average while
driving in 6 runs during his brief 20 game stint. He was one of the
original members of D-Block and the man responsible for coming up with the
name "D-Block". He will always be in our hearts and in the hearts of many
who he touched with his sense of humor throughout his life. In honor of
our fallen team mate, D-Block is officially retiring the number 11. We
love you Jay... and still do."
